"Fall into Winter" 2006

On the Santa Margarita School Oak Trail and at the Demonstration Forest Santa Margarita School students participated in a variety of fun and educational nature activities during the final months of 2006. All 4th - 6th grade students enjoyed oak trail hikes and hands-on science activities, with a different study theme for each grade. The "Learning Among the Oaks" Trail Program is supported by the California Wildlife Conservation Board and is made possible through the cooperation of Santa Margarita Ranch and many local collaborators. Other "Fall into Winter" activities included the Nov. 18 planting party and super workday at the Santa Margarita School Demonstration Forest (DF). On Dec. 18, students decorated DF trees for the holidays through the adopt-a-tree program spearheaded by retired teachers Sharon Drake and Betty Williams. Come join us for one of the upcoming 2007 DF workdays: Jan. 13, Feb. 10 or March 10. Check the calendar at http://www.smcf.org/calendar.html for details. New and old volunteers keep the DF growing for school and community use and enjoyment.
