DF beauty shines thanks to great school donors and volunteers
Have you visited the Santa Margarita School Demonstration Forest lately? Take a stroll and you'll see that the spirit of giving is alive at the DF. On Dec. 15, 2007, Mark and Carol Lawall donated and delivered more than a dozen landscape rocks from their Stone Creek Farm (stonecreekponies.com). With assistance from longtime DF volunteers, Tom and Simone Smith, the Lawalls carefully placed the beautiful rocks, many covered with colorful lichens, to provide natural sitting places along the pathway. The rocks look like they've always been there and that's how it should be. December DF visitors got an extra treat thanks to classroom adopt-a-tree leaders Sharon Drake and Betty Williams. Sharon and Betty, both retired Santa Margarita School teachers, helped classes decorate their adopted DF trees for the holidays. Thanks to all who make the DF a special place. Let's keep it growing for many years to come.
