10. Tulip Tree, Lirodendron tulipifera

A native of the deciduous forests of Eastern North America, the tulip tree needs ample summer moisture to thrive. Small tulip-shaped spring flowers are produced on older trees (10-12 years+). Golden leaves can be a fall focal point. Though it can work for a large lawn area, this is generally not a good tree for our drought prone area.
