This is our first nature display for the Santa Margarita School Library. The case was provided through the Learning Among the Oaks grant from the California Wildlife Conservation Board to the SLO County University of California Cooperative Extension. The first display, "All About Birds," was created by Cal Poly intern Casey Dilg. The students are enjoying this!

Thanks to the California Conservation Corps for preparing the Learning Among the Oaks trail in early October.

This is one of our trail oak seedlings, planted in 1997, and now growing past the top of its 4' shelter.

Thanks to Kevin Osborne, Cal Poly forestry graduate student/SMCF intern, for giving our Demonstration Forest chitalpa a much needed pruning job in November '09. Looks much better now!

Kathy Duncan, Pacific Wildlife Care volunteer, with "Olive" the opossum, returned to Santa Margarita School as part of the "Learning Among the Oaks" wildlife program for 5th grade classes. The students always look forward to this - thanks to Pacific Wildlife Care!
