With help from "Treechie," support from Davey Tree Expert Company, teachers and volunteers, Santa Margarita School students enjoyed learning about trees with Treetures and celebrated Arbor Day on April 24,2009. Davey donated Treetures ~ Welcome Spring! books for use by Santa Margarita's 2nd - 5th grade students. Thank You!

Nick Fortune, Oak Country Lumber, was honored with the 2009 "Spirit of Arbor Day Award" for his many years of outstanding efforts to shade and beautify Santa Margarita by planting and caring for trees. Congratulations, Nick!

Thanks to the California Conservation Corps for clearing weeds at the Demonstration Forest and preparing the oak trail for school hikes this spring! Work was completed on April 27,2009 and hikes began May 1.
